With his fans already brimming with excitement for the much-anticipated film Leo, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Thalapathy Vijay has unveiled a momentous revelation that is bound to elevate the spirits of his devoted admirers to celestial heights.
Taking to Twitter on Sunday, the Tamil superstar announced that his next feature film would be with filmmaker Venkat Prabhu, who is known for helming blockbuster projects such as Chennai 600028 (2007), Saroja (2008), Goa (2010), Mankatha (2011), and Maanaadu (2021).

Vijay made the announcement by sharing a 78-second clip that featured the names of major technicians associated with the film. Tentatively titled Thalapathy 68, Prabhu himself will pen the script for the film which will be bankrolled by Kalpathi S Aghoram for AGS Entertainment. Renowned musician Yuvan Shankar Raja will create the soundtrack for the film.
The Tamil superstar was last seen in the action drama film Varisu, directed by Vamshi Paidipally, which received mixed reviews from critics, but ended up becoming a major hit.
Prabhu’s last directorial venture, the political action thriller film Custody starring Naga Chaitanya, Krithi Shetty and Arvind Swamy, had opened to mixed reviews from critics. The Indian Express’ Kirubhakar Purushothaman wrote that “Custody doesn’t decide what type of movie it wants to be till the very last scene of the film.”
