West Ham vs Arsenal LIVE: Premier League result and reaction as ...
Arsenal demolished West Ham at the London Stadium to keep up the pace with Manchester City and Liverpool in the title race. In a totally one-sided affair, the Gunners started strongly forcing saves out of Alphonse Areola before a set piece helped them into the lead. William Saliba leapt highest from a corner to nod home the opener.
David Moyes’ side then fell apart and Arsenal took complete control with slick passing, fine runs and a clinical eye for goal. Bukayo Saka won and converted a penalty to score the second before Gabriel headed home a third. Leandro Trossard curled in a fine finish from just inside the box to make it four goals before half-time.
After the break, Saka added a fifth with his second of the afternoon and the icing on the cake came from Declan Rice who slotted home a long range effort against his former club to secure all three points.

Declan Rice completes West Ham’s humiliation to leave David Moyes on the brink16:02 , Ben Fleming
As if there was not enough embarrassment, Declan Rice’s final touch completed the humiliation. Arsenal were already 5-0 up at West Ham United and cruising towards a resounding victory in the Premier League title race when the former Hammers captain stepped up to curl in a sublime sixth from 25 yards to add to his two previous assists. As Rice’s thumping strike flew past the goalkeeper Alphonse Areola, the midfielder held up his hands in a gesture of apology. Yet, with thousands already having made their way to the exits and an early tube home, the catastrophic damage had been done.
While Arsenal backed up last weekend’s statement win over Liverpool with a brilliant display of their title credentials, and their biggest away win in Premier League history, the questions will now turn to how fatal this thrashing at the London Stadium will be for David Moyes. The manager who led West Ham to their historic victory in the Europa Conference League last season was left to look on at the unfolding car crash with a hauntingly anguished expression. The mood has turned so quickly. Moyes had the Hammers within touching distance of sixth place before kick-off, but West Ham are now winless in seven and this capitulation felt ominously bleak.

Aston Villa vs Manchester United LIVE: Latest Premier League updates
Mikel Arteta speaking to Sky Sports16:27 , Ben Fleming
“I’m extremely happy. The way we performed, the way we played. Such a big score in a really difficult place tells you a lot about how well the boys played today.
“We’re in a good moment and when you have good moments you have to build and maintain the momentum. The team from the beginning looked really sharp. We had to put right the last two results against them and that was a good motivation for the boys.
On Rice’s return to West Ham: “It’s always difficult to come back to your old club. The fans were really good to him. When he went to take the corner they clapped him so it’s great to see that kind of reception. He loves this club so much and I know what it meant to him to play today.”
A record-breaking victory16:16 , Ben Fleming
Arsenal’s 6-0 win today marks their joint-biggest margin of victory in an away league match and their first such win by six goals since December 1935 against Aston Villa (7-1).
For West Ham, meanwhile, the heavy defeat marks their joint-heaviest home defeat in their league history and the first tie since December 1963 that they’ve lost by six goals in the top flight.
Martin Odegaard speaking to Sky Sports16:13 , Ben Fleming
“Very happy and proud of the team. Coming from a big game and a big win last week and backing it up today with another great performance. Like I said, we were really sharp in front of goal - I think that’s what we’ve been missing in the last few weeks and today we really showed that quality we have.
On the message that win sends to Liverpool and Manchester City: “We’re focusing on ourselves and what we do every day. We don’t care too much about the other teams - we focus on ourselves and we keep working hard.”
Bukayo Saka speaking after the match16:09 , Ben Fleming
“We were 4-0 up at half-time but we could have scored many more, including myself. I think we smelt blood today and went for the kill. We did really well today to score more.”
On scoring his 50th goal for the club: “I’m really happy to achieve that but I’m not sure I can be happy today - I missed some chances that I feel I could have scored. But obviously, it’s a great achievement so I’m proud of that.”

The home fans are finally put out of their misery but what a superb display from Arsenal who thump West Ham at the London Stadium.
Those six goals also move the Gunners level on points and goal difference with Manchester City in second.
West Ham 0-6 Arsenal15:54 , Ben Fleming
90 mins: A late yellow for Phillips after a poor challenge on Nelson.
Three minutes of added time here to wrap up this second half.
West Ham 0-6 Arsenal15:51 , Ben Fleming
87 mins: The game is really petering out here at the London Stadium. Arsenal swing a ball in from the left but it’s cleared out for a throw-in.
West Ham 0-6 Arsenal15:46 , Ben Fleming
82 mins: A rare foray forward for West Ham as Kudus shows good footwork to get round Elneny’s sliding challenge.
His eventual effort is blocked well by Raya before Bowen’s effort is blocked behind for a corner.
West Ham 0-6 Arsenal15:45 , Ben Fleming
81 mins: Into the final ten minutes we head as Arsenal continue to press forward in search of more goals. Elneny fires over from the edge of the box as he looks to get on the scoresheet.
West Ham 0-6 Arsenal15:40 , Ben Fleming
77 mins: A yellow is shown to Kudus as the Hammers turn to the bench, Cresswell replacing Emerson at left-back.
Arsenal, too, make some changes as Cedric and 16-year-old Nwaneri replace Martinelli and White.
West Ham 0-6 Arsenal15:39 , Ben Fleming
75 mins: Odegaard swings in a free-kick from the right but Mavropanos clears it away.
West Ham 0-6 Arsenal15:35 , Ben Fleming
72 mins: Some sarcastic chants of “champions of Europe, we know who we are” ring out from the West Ham fans who have stuck it out until this point.
Elneny, meanwhile, tries to get on the scoresheet but his long-range effort is straight at Areola.
West Ham 0-6 Arsenal15:33 , Ben Fleming
67 mins: A triple change for Arsenal after that goal as goalscorers Rice, Saka and Trossard all make way, with Elneny, Nelson and Nketiah coming on.
GOAL! West Ham 0-6 Arsenal (Rice, 66 mins)15:29 , Ben Fleming
Rice has a goal against his former club and Arsenal have a sixth just two minutes later!
White’s cutback goes between Odegaard and Trossard but falls to Rice about 25 yards out from goal. Rice tries his luck and it’s a sensational first-time effort that flies into the top corner.
No celebrations from the former West Ham man.
GOAL! West Ham 0-5 Arsenal (Saka, 63 mins)15:26 , Ben Fleming
It’s five and so, so easy for Arsenal.
Neither Emerson nor Aguerd are remotely close to Saka and when Odegaard feeds him the ball on the edge of the box, there is only one thing on his mind.
The forward cuts inside onto his left before slamming the ball past a helpless Areola. His second of the game and it just gets worse for the home fans.
West Ham 0-4 Arsenal15:22 , Ben Fleming
58 mins: SAVE! A mazy run from Saka inside the West Ham box but Areola is equal to the eventual effort, extending a right hand out well to prevent the effort.
Kiwior is close to the rebound but can’t quite get the necessary connection on his effort.
West Ham 0-4 Arsenal15:20 , Ben Fleming
56 mins: Phillips has had a tough start to life at West Ham but perhaps this second half, with basically nothing to play for, could allow him the opportunity to find his feet.
The Englishman has been getting on the ball plenty at the base of midfield since coming on.
West Ham 0-4 Arsenal15:15 , Ben Fleming
52 mins: A couple of half chances for West Ham as Kudus and Johnson see their long-range efforts blocked by the Arsenal defence.
West Ham 0-4 Arsenal15:13 , Ben Fleming
50 mins: Havertz lines up a shot from range but dags it just wide of the left post. West Ham have begun the second half in much the same fashion that they ended the first - they look lost at sea.
West Ham 0-4 Arsenal15:11 , Ben Fleming
47 mins: Arsenal right back on top as Trossard has a great chance to pile more misery on the home fans. He gets his finish all wrong, though, and his effort goes well over the bar.
KICK-OFF! West Ham 0-4 Arsenal15:10 , Ben Fleming
46 mins: A double change at the break for the home side as Phillips and Mavropanos come on for Alvarez and Zouma. We’re back underway here for the second half.

And, breathe...
A simply breathtaking first-half from Arsenal who have raced into a four-goal lead at the break. Saliba nodded the visitors in front but Arteta’s side then found three further goals in seven minutes to surely put the game beyond doubt.
Saka converted from the spot before Gabriel’s header and Trossard’s curling finish have Arsenal totally in control at the break.
The boos rng around the London Stadium from those West Ham fans still in the ground - what on earth does David Moyes say to his team at the break?
West Ham 0-4 Arsenal14:54 , Ben Fleming
45+5 mins: The cameras have cut to outside the London Stadium and, as predicted, hundreds of West Ham fans are heading for the train station. They’ve seen enough.
GOAL! West Ham 0-4 Arsenal (Trossard, 45+2 mins)14:49 , Ben Fleming
Arsenal have a fourth before the break!
Well, you certainly wouldn’t want to be in the West Ham dressing room now as the home side concede their third goal in just seven minutes.
Odegaard slips through the Trossard into the box and the Belgian shifts it onto his right before curling a wonderful finish past Areola and into the top corner.
A slew of West Ham fans head for an early half-time exit and you suspect many won’t be back after the break. A disastrous end to the half for the home side.
West Ham 0-3 Arsenal14:48 , Ben Fleming
45+1 mins: Into the first of seven minutes of added time we go. David Moyes’ face on the sidelines says it all.
I, for one, would not want to be in the home dressing room at half-time...
GOAL! West Ham 0-3 Arsenal (Gabriel, 44 mins)14:45 , Ben Fleming
Arsenal strike again before the break!
It goes from bad to worse for West Ham as Gabriel easily gets the wrong side of Alvarez from a free-kick to thunder home a header from Declan Rice’s free-kick delivery.
A superb end to the first half for the visitors, though, who have surely all but wrapped up the three points aleady.
GOAL! West Ham 0-2 Arsenal (Saka pen, 41 mins)14:42 , Ben Fleming
Arsenal double their lead!
Saka missed a vital penalty at the London Stadium last season but he makes no mistake this time, sending Areola the wrong way and firing into the bottom-right corner.
A quite simply terrible ten minutes from West Ham - they have a mountain to climb now.
West Ham 0-1 Arsenal14:41 , Ben Fleming
40 mins: Saka was onside so the penalty stands. Saka looks like he will take it...
West Ham 0-1 Arsenal14:41 , Ben Fleming
38 mins: PENALTY! Perhaps the easiest decision Craig Pawson has had in his refereeing career.
Saka springs in behind the West Ham defence but is brought down clumsily by Areola as the Arsenal forward looks to round the Hammers’ keeper.
Areola is shown a yellow card but there’s now a VAR check to make sure Saka was onside initially...
West Ham 0-1 Arsenal14:39 , Ben Fleming
37 mins: Another great chance for Saka as Odegaard slides the ball through to him inside the box. It’s a tight angle and Saka’s dinked effort goes just wide of the far post.
West Ham 0-1 Arsenal14:38 , Ben Fleming
35 mins: Arsenal should be two up! Kiwior’s cross in from the left finds Saka in all kinds of space in the penalty area but the Englishman nods wide with his header.
He’s understandably frustrated with himself - that was a cracking chance to give his side some vital breathing space.
GOAL! West Ham 0-1 Arsenal (Saliba, 32 mins)14:33 , Ben Fleming
Arsenal have the opener and it’s another set-piece goal for the Gunners!
Rice swings the ball towards a crowded back post and it’s Saliba who rises highest to nod home past Areola.
That’s a soft one to concede for West Ham.
West Ham 0-0 Arsenal14:32 , Ben Fleming
30 mins: Martinelli flashes a low cross into the box but Aguerd clears the danger just before the onrushing Odegaard can get on the end of it.
West Ham 0-0 Arsenal14:30 , Ben Fleming
28 mins: Odegaard strikes from the edge of the box but Soucek gets a vital block on the effort to deflect it wide. Ward-Prowse rises well to clear away the resulting corner.
West Ham 0-0 Arsenal14:26 , Ben Fleming
23 mins: SAVE! A second huge chance in the space of two minutes for Trossard but this time he gets it right, unleashing a fierce volley on target which Areola superbly manages to tip over the bar.
West Ham 0-0 Arsenal14:25 , Ben Fleming
22 mins: OVER! An enticing ball in from the right by Saka finds Trossard superbly in the box but the Belgian nods over from a good position. He should really be doing better.
West Ham 0-0 Arsenal14:24 , Ben Fleming
21 mins: A sustained period of good possession for the hosts as Johnson’s ball in from the left is cleared by Gabriel.
A mistake from Emerson, though, allows Arsenal to break but Aguerd is well-placed to make a vital interception and stop Trossard picking up the ball inside the area.
West Ham 0-0 Arsenal14:20 , Ben Fleming
17 mins: The corner comes in from the left but Arsenal can clear. Soucek rather dramatically hits the deck after minimal contact with Odegaard and the referee, rightly, waves away his appeals.
West Ham 0-0 Arsenal14:18 , Ben Fleming
16 mins: West Ham, though, are growing into the game now as their houndish press prevents Arsenal from playing out from the back.
Bowen releases Johnson down the left flank but Kiwior does superbly to clear the low cross out for a corner with Kudus looking to get a strike on goal.
West Ham 0-0 Arsenal14:14 , Ben Fleming
12 mins: Arsenal really pinning West Ham in now as they have a third corner in quick succession. Saka swings in the corner from the right but it’s too deep for Kiwior and flies out for a goal-kick.
West Ham 0-0 Arsenal14:12 , Ben Fleming
10 mins: Rice eventually swings in the corner but Havertz’s header loops harmlessly up into the air and Areola claims with ease.
West Ham 0-0 Arsenal14:11 , Ben Fleming
9 mins: An early yellow for the Hammers as Alvarez is late into the challenge with Saka. His eighth of the season already for the Mexican.
West Ham 0-0 Arsenal14:11 , Ben Fleming
8 mins: A well-worked move from Arsenal as Martinelli receives the ball inside the box. His cross is looking for Trossard but it’s cleared away by Aguerd for a corner.
Rice swing the ball in to the back post but Areola claims the knock-down.
West Ham 0-0 Arsenal14:08 , Ben Fleming
6 mins: A measured start to this contest from both sides. Arsenal with the lion’s share of possession but not posing the West Ham defence with any great threat so far.
West Ham 0-0 Arsenal14:05 , Ben Fleming
3 mins: Bowen races through on goal and gets a shot off but the offside flag is quickly up on the West Ham forward.
KICK-OFF! West Ham 0-0 Arsenal14:02 , Ben Fleming
1 min: Are we are underway here at the London Stadium.

Just over five minutes to go here at the London Stadium and the atmosphere is building nicely.

Impressive away record for the Gunners13:49 , Ben Fleming
Something, though, will have to give. Despite the Hamers’ recent impressive home record, it is Arsenal who have a particularly enviable record away against West Ham.
In fact, the Gunners have lost just one of their last 15 Premier League away games against West Ham (W9 D5), going down 1-0 in January 2019. Current Gunner Declan Rice scored the winner for the Hammers that day.
Something has to give today.
Impressive home record for the Hammers13:42 , Ben Fleming
There may not have been a lot of wins to shout about in recent weeks, but the London Stadium has remained somewhat of a fortress for West Ham in recent months.
The Hammers are now unbeaten in their last six Premier League home games (W3 D3) and avoiding defeat here today would mark the longest Premier League unbeaten stretch at the London Stadium in the club’s history.

Gabriel happy to go under the radar13:29 , Ben Fleming
After a slow start to the season, the Brazillian centre-back has established himself as one of the key players in Arteta’s defensive set-up, once again.
His form in January, in which he supplemented his defensive work with two goals in a crucial win over Crystal Palace, has seen him shortlisted alongside Kevin De Bruyne, Richarlison, Diogo Jota, Conor Bradley and Elijah Adebayo for the Premier League player of the month.
Asked if he feels it finally shows he is being appreciated by those outside of Arsenal, Gabriel told the PA News Agency: “I’m very happy to be up for player of the month. Of course I always work hard every day to try to do my best on the pitch and realise my potential.
“The most important thing is the people around me who know my potential, and in terms of those outside – and if people devalue me, I’m happy for them if I change their mind.”

David Moyes hoping to build on impressive Arsenal displays13:22 , Ben Fleming
The Hammers have already beaten Arsenal twice this season - in the Premier League and the Carabao Cup - and will eye up a famous third win today at home.
David Moyes’s side haven’t won since the turn of the year but is hoping for a repeat display against the Gunners to get them back to winning ways.
“We’ve beaten Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea this year. We’re giving the top teams a game and hopefully, we can do the same on Sunday,” he said.
“If you’d given me one of the wins against that team I’d have been happy. Two is fabulous and if we can make it three, it would be fantastic.”
“It doesn’t make me feel more confident, but it makes me feel that we’ve shown we can take points off Arsenal. We’ve scored goals against them and that would be the key again to give ourselves a chance.”
Mikel Arteta responds to Arsenal ‘over-celebration’ row: ‘I love it’13:15 , Ben Fleming
Arsenal were widely criticised for their post-match reaction to beating Liverpool 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium last Sunday to close within two points of Jurgen Klopp’s side at the top of the table.
Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher told captain Martin Odegaard to “just get down the tunnel” as he took pictures with the club photographer’s camera, while Gary Neville said it showed “a little bit of immaturity”.
But Mikel Arteta was not paying any attention to the criticism.
“I love it,” he said when asked about his side’s and his own celebrations. “I’ve seen managers at the Emirates, away (at other stadiums) on their knees inside the pitch. I’ve seen very big managers going across the touchline in the Premier League.
“Personally, I love it because it brings such a passion and emotion to the game when it’s done in a natural and unique way. I think it’s great but it’s my opinion and other people may think something different.”
Arsenal team news13:10 , Ben Fleming
Two changes, meanwhile, for Arsenal after their big win against Liverpool. Kiwior comes in for the injured Zinchenko, while Trossard will lead the lead as Havertz drops into midfield and Jorginho moves to the bench.
Tomiyasu, Smith Rowe and Jesus are all not fit enough to make the bench.
Arsenal XI: Arsenal: Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Kiwior; Rice, Havertz, Odegaard; Saka, Martinelli, Trossard.
Subs: Ramsdale, Cedric, Walters, Bandeira, Elneny, Jorginho, Nelson, Nwaneri, Nketiah.

West Ham name an unchanged XI from their 3-0 defeat against Manchester United last weekend. That means that Ben Johnson continues in his more advanced right-wing, while Alphonse Areola is able to start in goal having come off at half-time at Old Trafford.
Phillips remains on the bench.
West Ham XI: Areola; Coufal, Zouma, Aguerd, Emerson; Alvarez, Soucek, Ward-Prowse; Johnson, Kudus, Bowen.
Subs: Fabianski, Cresswell, Phillips, Mavropanos, Cornet, Ings, Ogbonna, Mubama, Scarles.

Arsenal looking for revenge12:40 , Ben Fleming
What a difference a month can make. Today, Arsenal head to the London Stadium just five points off Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table but, in December, their title bid looked to have derailed after a disappointing defeat 2-0 home defeat against West Ham just after Christmas.

Kalvin Phillips reveals ‘toughest moment’ of disastrous Man City spell12:30 , Ben Fleming
England midfielder Kalvin Phillips has revealed the “toughest” moment of his disastrous spell at Manchester City came when manager Pep Guardiola called him “overweight” in public after returning from the World Cup.
Phillips, 28, joined City from Leeds United in a £42m transfer in July 2022. He signed a six-year contract with the Premier League champions but made just six starts in all competitions under Guardiola, spending the majority of his time at the club sitting on the substitutes bench.
Phillips joined West Ham on loan in January, returning to the pitch in search of much-needed minutes ahead of Euro 2024 this summer, and admitted he had lost the “fire within me” since moving to City from Leeds.
“After the World Cup was probably the toughest,” Phillips said. “When Pep came out and said I was overweight.

West Ham vs Arsenal betting tips12:20 , Ben Fleming
Arsenal’s title ambitions got a huge shot in the arm with last week’s win over Liverpool and are expecting them to keep up the pressure at the top of the table with a win at West Ham on Sunday (2pm, Sky Sports Main Event).
The Gunners are a best-price of 4/7 in the Premier League odds to collect another three points at the London Stadium and stretch their winning run in the top flight to four games.
They’ll have taken plenty of confidence from the 3-1 success against Liverpool but have had West Ham halt their momentum once this season already.
Mikel Arteta’s men faced the Hammers just after Christmas following a 1-1 draw at Anfield and were stunningly turned over 2-0 by David Moyes’ team at the Emirates Stadium.

What Arsenal’s celebrations against Liverpool really told us about the title race12:10 , Ben Fleming
The celebration police will undoubtedly be on high alert, but if Arsenal defeat West Ham at the London Stadium on Sunday there could be some justification to Mikel Arteta’s side believing victory is worth more than just three points in the Premier League title race. The Gunners have already lost twice to David Moyes’s side this season, in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup in early November and a dismal home defeat in the Premier League in late December.
Add in costly dropped points from a 2-0 lead towards the end of last campaign, and Arsenal suddenly have recent history to overturn against their city rivals, revenge to earn.
It helps, then, that Arsenal return to east London on the back of their result of the season so far, a 3-1 win against leaders Liverpool that propelled Arteta’s side back into the title race. If it was billed as a must-win game from an Arsenal perspective, it was celebrated as such, too.
In the subsequent days, much has been made of Arteta’s sprint along the touchline and captain Martin Odegaard’s eye for a photograph as well as a pass: though if the whole debate has felt overblown, it would return with a thunder should Arsenal fail to build on their gathering momentum. West Ham are out of form, winless in six – or since they won at Arsenal on 28 December.

West Ham vs Arsenal LIVE: Latest Premier League updates10:37 , Jamie Braidwood
Arsenal travel to West Ham looking to keep pace in the Premier League title race, while Mikel Arteta’s side are also out for revenge after losing both games they have played against the Hammers this season.
The Gunners were beaten by David Moyes’s team in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup as well as in the Premier League in late December, with the visitors won 2-0 at the Emirates in what looked to be a major dent in Arsenal’s title bid.
But Arteta’s side have found form in recent weeks, and travel to the London Stadium on the back of an impressive victory over leaders Liverpool last weekend. West Ham, meanwhile, have not won since beating Arsenal on December 28 and are winless in six in all competitions, although they could go sixth with a win.
