BREAK! - SINNER 6-3 6-4 0-4 HANFMANN

A Yannick has just corked a scorching backhand winner on No.1 Court – but not the Jannik you were expecting.

It seals the double break for the unfancied German and all of a sudden a fourth set looks highly likely.

It is one-way traffic on Centre Court.

Coco saunters through a clean hold to back up the double break and it’s hard to see Caroline finding the level to truly trouble her here today.

SINNER 6-3 6-4 0-3 HANFMANN

Just as it looked like Sinner was in cruise-control there’s a plot twists at the start of the third as the German follows up a solid hold to open with a razor-sharp return to snare the break.

Yannick then backs it up as he finishes off a hold to 30 with a timely ace.

BREAK! - GAUFF 4-1 DOLEHIDE

There’s the point of the match right there!

Gauff produces a sensational reaction lob off a jump smash from her opponent to earn a break point.

Dolehide can’t fend it off and miscues a forehand to hand over the double break.

The match already appears to be firmly on Gauff’s racquet and it’s just the one misfire as she maintains her advantage with an efficient game to 15.

The World No.51 wriggles on to the board with a hold from deuce. She’s taken a bit of time to settle into her surroundings but should help ease those nerves.

BREAK! - GAUFF 1-0 DOLEHIDE

It’s an all-American affair on Centre Court to finish off Day 1 and it’s the No.2 seed who strikes first blood, breaking from deuce after Caroline had opened up 30-0 and 40-30 leads.

Yannick lands a hefty serve to close-out a game to 15 and stay in touch.

Sinner responds with in-kind, finishing off the game for the loss of one point with a wrong-footing backhand volley.

That is the definition of clutch!

The top seed sandwiches a forehand winner between a pair of aces as he fends off break point to surge through a resilient hold from deuce.

REPORT AND REACTION AS RADUCANU ROARS INTO ROUND 2

Jannik backs up the break from deuce, takes a tumble and presses for the double break before Yannick stays in contention with a similar hold from deuce.

MIXED EMOTIONS FOR THE BRITS

Lily Miyazuki follows Raducanu with another win for GB but it's an early exit for Liam Broady who loses 2-6 6-4 3-6 2-6 to Botic Van De Zandschulp.

In her post-match on-court interview, Raducanu admits it wasn't her best performance but suggests it was just like England at Euro 2024 (in the football); 'it all counts' and getting the job done was all that mattered.

The Brit meets Belgium's Elise Mertens in round two.
