Chelsea Under-18s overcame a two-goal deficit and a second half red card to secure a dramatic victory over Tottenham Hotspur and move to the top of Group E in the Premier League Cup.

Saturday morning's London derby, which was streamed exclusively live and for free on the Official Chelsea FC app, saw the home side open up a 3-1 advantage by the 53rd minute.

However, substitutions from head coach Hassan Sulaiman paid off and, despite having Travis Akomeah dismissed midway through the second period, it was Reiss Russell-Denny that scored our winner to leave us in top spot in Group E.

The young Blues were looking to pick up where they left off prior to the international break. Yet it was Tottenham who started the brighter of the two sides and, after just three minutes, they went ahead through Mikey Moore.

Max Merrick then had to make a good one-handed stop to prevent a second as Yusuf Akhamrich's shot threatened the Chelsea goal.

Our first opportunity was created by Chinonso Chibueze, as his excellent cross found Jimmy-Jay Morgan in space. Unfortunately, the forward couldn't guide his header beyond Carey Bloedorn.

Spurs upped the pressure. Chances were forged. Harrison Murray-Campbell did well to clear an effort off the line and Moore then struck the post.

Chelsea's resistance was then broken after Merrick was unable to collect a cross and Oliver Irow was on hand to head home.

A response was needed from the Blues. It came quickly as Harrison McMahon pounced on a loose ball and it eventually fell at the feet of Morgan, who remained composed and finished well.

The game was finely poised at the interval. However, eight minutes after the restart, Tottenham re-established their two-goal lead as Akhamrich was in the right place to tap the ball into the net.

Once again, the young Blues had to react. Two minutes is what they required as Russell-Denny, with practically his first touch after being introduced, took advantage of an error in the Tottenham backline to claim possession and finish cooly.

Momentum was with Chelsea and an equaliser was claimed when Shumaira Mheuka, introduced at the same time as Russell-Denny, found the bottom corner from just outside the penalty area.

The Blues went in search of the lead but a second bookable offence for Akomeah meant a reshuffle was required. Still, chances were fashioned and Bloedorn produced an excellent stop to deny Mheuka.

Tottenham's goalkeeper was unable to keep out our next effort as Russell-Denny connected with a corner from Frankie Runham and found the net.

Despite being a man down, Sulaiman's side saw out the game well to ensure we continued our winning start to our Premier League Cup campaign.

What it means?

We go top of Group E with six points from our opening two fixtures in the competition.
