Aadujeevitham has scripted history at the box office on day one. Starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, the survival drama is thriving at the ticket windows with opening day numbers setting new benchmarks. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film netted Rs 7.45 cr across all languages in India on Thursday.

The Malayalam version of the film netted Rs 6.50 cr, while the Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi language versions contributed another Rs 1 cr to the film’s first day total. With an all-India gross collection of over Rs 9 cr (official numbers yet to be out), Aadujeevitham has taken one of the biggest starts for a Malayalam film in India.

In terms of nett opening day collections in Kerala, Aadujeevitham has scored one of the biggest openings in the state. This opening is five times that of  Tovino Thomas’ 2018 (Rs 1.7 cr) and almost twice of Manjummel Boys, which opened at Rs 3.3 cr. Manjummel Boys is currently the highest grossing Malayalam film of all time, with a worldwide gross of Rs 212 cr.

It remains to be seen if the film manages to officially go past the opening day figures of Mohanlal’s Odiyan, which was said to be around Rs 7.10 cr nett. Aadujeevitham day one worldwide collections are estimated to be in the range of Rs 14-15 cr.

Armed with positive word of mouth and glowing reviews, Aadujeevitham is set to record solid extended weekend figures, and if the reception remains strong, the Blessy-directed film is likely to emerge as yet another blockbuster from the Malayalam film industry, which is currently on a roll with consecutive money-spinners at the box office this year.
