Former Argentina international Carlos Tevez has been discharged from hospital in Buenos Aires having been admitted earlier on Wednesday after suffering with chest pains.

The 40-year-old former Manchester United and Manchester City forward underwent examination at the Sanatorio La Trinidad in San Isidro on Wednesday morning and was released later the same day.

Tevez has been head coach of Argentinian Primera Division side Independiente since August 2023.

An update from the club on their head coach’s condition read: “Carlos Tevez finished his medical studies and was discharged. He will return home to rest and return to training tomorrow.”

No detail was provided on what had caused the issue.

Tevez represented Boca Juniors, Corinthians, West Ham United, Manchester United, Manchester City, Juventus and Shanghai Shenhua during a professional career spanning 20 years. He won the Premier League on three occasions, in addition to two Serie A titles and the Champions League in 2008.

The forward made 76 appearances for Argentina and represented his country at the 2006 and 2010 World Cup.

He retired in June 2022 and took his first managerial role with Primera Division side Rosario Central later that month, before moving to Independiente last summer.

Independiente finished sixth in the Primera Division after the first phase of fixtures and return to action on May 12 against Talleres Cordoba.
