Scout Selection: Best FPL team for Blank Gameweek 29

A visit to Fulham in Blank Gameweek 29 (BGW29) hands James Maddison (£8.0m) the chance to extend his flawless away record in 2023/24 Fantasy Premier League.

The Tottenham Hotspur playmaker has produced attacking returns in all eight of his starts on the road, averaging 7.6 points per match in those encounters thanks to three goals and seven assists.

Maddison takes his place in a best XI that lines up in a 3-4-3 formation, with Son Heung-min (£9.9m) and Ollie Watkins (£9.0m) named captain and vice-captain respectively.

Mark Flekken (Brentford) £4.5m

Brentford’s No 1 travels to a Burnley side who have scored only three goals in their last six home matches. Notably, Flekken was successful in his previous meeting with the Clarets, keeping a clean sheet in a 3-0 win for the Bees in Gameweek 9. 

Pedro Porro (Spurs) £5.8m

Six clean sheets and eight assists highlight the Spurs full-back’s prospects at both ends of the pitch against Fulham. Porro’s totals of 37 shots and 41 key passes place first and fourth respectively among defenders in 2023/24 Fantasy, further showing his attacking abilities.

Alfie Doughty (Luton) £4.7m

Luton Town’s wing-back boasts a huge creative threat at home to Nottingham Forest. Doughty supplied his ninth assist of the season against AFC Bournemouth on Wednesday evening, while his 57 key passes ranks second among all defenders this season.

Nathan Collins (Brentford) £4.5m

Brentford’s threat at free-kicks and corners could ultimately determine their encounter with Burnley – the Bees are the fourth-best side in the league for shots from set-pieces, while their hosts are the third-worst for allowing such efforts. Collins has produced six headed shots from set-pieces, the second-best total among Brentford players. 

Son Heung-min (Spurs) £9.9m

The South Korean’s 17-point haul against Aston Villa last weekend was his seventh double-figure return of the season. Son’s captaincy potential against Fulham has earned him 368,000 transfers in, more than twice the total of any other player in the Gameweek.

James Maddison (Spurs) £8.0m

Maddison has been involved in a team-high 56 per cent of Spurs’ away goals, compared with the 46 per cent of Son.

Jarrod Bowen (West Ham) £8.0m

The West Ham United star has three goals, an assist and 27 points in the last three Gameweeks since the return of playmaker Lucas Paqueta (£6.0m). Bowen entertains an Aston Villa side who have conceded eight goals in that same period. 

Mohammed Kudus (West Ham) £6.8m

West Ham’s Ghanaian has blanked only twice in his last seven home matches, earning 47 points thanks to four goals, two assists and seven bonus points. Kudus’ 15 shots in his last four matches were more than any other BGW29 midfielder. 

Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa) £9.0m

Villa’s forward visits West Ham on the back of three successive double-figure hauls on his travels. In away matches this season, Watkins’ 100 points and 16 goal involvements are both league-leading totals.

Ivan Toney (Brentford) £8.1m

The Brentford star faces a Burnley side who have struggled in defence, conceding at least twice in each of their last seven matches. Since returning to action in Gameweek 21, Toney’s nine big chances and 12 shots on target both place among the top five players in Fantasy.

Carlton Morris (Luton) £5.2m

His form in home matches indicates the Luton striker can atone for his back-to-back blanks away to Crystal Palace and Bournemouth in Double Gameweek 28. Morris has three goals, an assist, 26 points and no blanks in his last four outings at Kenilworth Road.
