RCB 152/6 in 13.4 overs

A half-hearted LBW appeal from Rashid to get things rolling this over. They’ll go upstairs nonetheless, hoping for a stroke of luck. Replays show it’s come off the gloves so DK’s been marked safe. 3 to get now. A single to hand Swapnil the strike. Will he finish things off? He has done it off a full toss. A humongous six, straight down the ground, off the fourth ball and RCB propels itself to 7th on the table with this four-wicket win.

RCB 143/6 in 13 overs

Noor Ahmad to bowl out. The RCB duo seem happy to see this over through. No unneccessary risks taken. Swapnil joins the party with a four as Vijay Shankar comes up to the short leg position. FOUR more! What pressure? Sweeps this to bring the home team within touching distance of victory. Only five to get now.

RCB 133/6 in 12 overs

An injured Rashid Khan comes into the attack. Karthik welcomes him with a four. That will ease the pressure off a tad. Back-to-back FOURS! He truly throves under pressure, does DK. He pulls the first delivery, slightly short, to glory. He creates room ahead of the other one to whack it through cover. He is in a hurry to head back to the hotel.

RCB 117/6 in 11 overs

Noor to Karthik. Drives the second through covers for one. FOUR for Kohli. That should ease some pressure. Short of a length and Kohli swipes it across the line through mid wicket. OUT! Kohli is caught behind. The stadium is in disbelief. The wrong one gets the better of him.

Virat Kohli c Saha b Noor 42 (27)

Swapnil Singh is the new batter. Nearly gets trapped in front on the first delivery.

RCB 112/5 in 10 overs

Little for his final over. Kohli taps the first delivery to third man with a late cut. Cameron Green is off the mark with a punch to deep cover. Another late cut from Kohli off the fourth delivery. OUT! Little gets Green. Wide outside off and Green cannot help but chase it. A leading edge to third man. GT smells a comeback here.

Cameron Green c Shahrukh b Little 1 (2)

Dinesh Karthik too nearly perishes against the bouncer. The ball drops just short of the square leg fielder.

RCB 108/4 in 9 overs

Noor to Kohli. After five dot balls on the trot, Kohli taps the last one to deep mid wicket for one run.

RCB 107/4 in 8 overs

Little again. Patidar square drives to third man to pick one. Kohli gets a single to deep cover. OUT! Patidar picks the deep square leg fielder with his pull shot. RCB IS THREE DOWN!

GT vs RCB - Figure 3

Rajat Patidar c Miller b Little 2 (3)

Glenn Maxwell in at No. 5. FOUR! Digs out a delivery in the block hole and works it away through mid wicket. OUT! Maxwell is caught at deep square leg again. A carbon copy of the first wicket in the over. Is this the turnaround starting for GT?

Maxwell c Miller b Little 4 (3)

RCB 100/2 in 7 overs

Noor Ahmed to Kohli, FOUR! Stays in his crease, makes room and swats it past covers. A single to long off on the second. ALMOST! Jacks gets done by the turn, drops his hands and top edges. He is almost sure he will be out until he sees the ball drop past the cover fielder. A single for Kohli next. OUT! Another leading edge for Jacks sees him depart. Caught at long on.

Will Jacks c Shahrukh b Noor 1 (3)

Rajat Patidar taps to long on to get off the mark off his first delivery. That’s 100 for RCB too.

Highest PowerPlay score for RCB

RCB vs GT: Royal Challengers Bengaluru registers its highest PowerPlay score

Chennai Royal Challengers Bengaluru sets record with highest PowerPlay score of 92/1 against Gujarat Titans at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

RCB 92/1 in 6 overs

Josh Little to Faf, FOUR! No stopping Faf today as he slogs it over mid wicket. Too short from the bowler and Faf is not going to leave that. A perfect wide yorker to get a rare dot ball for GT. SIX! Length ball wide of off and Faf lofts it over cover. FOUR more! Slapped through covers. OUT! Faf is gone. A bouncer and it comes off the gloves as Faf tries to pull it. A simple catch for fine leg. Josh Little is pumped.

Faf du Plessis c Shahrukh b Little 64 (23)

RCB 78/0 in 5 overs

Manav Suthar to bowl his first. Kohli unleashes the slog sweep again. Two sixes over mid wicket followed by two singles. An 18-ball fifty for Faf du Plessis in the over. 14 come from it.

RCB 64/0 in 4 overs

Mohit to Faf. FOUR! A half-tracker from Mohit and Faf pulls it away over mid wicket. A slower one from Mohit, Faf hits it cross-batted to long off. One run for Virat as he works the third delivery to deep mid wicket. FOUR! Faf slashes outside off and picks the gap between mid off and cover. FOUR! Faf picks the slower one, tonks it down the ground, the ball lands just in front of the rope. FOUR! This time it is creamed past point. 18 runs from the over.

IPL 2024: Here are the Orange Cap standings after the IPL match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans in Bengaluru

RCB 46/0 in 3 overs

Manav Suthar to Kohli, one run with a drive to long off. SIX! Faf makes room for the delivery which is angling into him, tonks it over long on. FOUR! This time he makes room to cut it away past covers. A single makes it 12 runs from the over.

RCB 34/0 in 2 overs

Josh Little now. FOUR! On the body to Faf who hooks it away behind square. FOUR more! Over the head of the mid off fielder. SIX! Sublime! Faf waits for the ball to come to him and scoops it right back over the bowler’s head. Two runs, Faf again gets a full delivery which he lofts over covers. FOUR to end the over. Faf rocks onto the back foot and smokes it over mid wicket.

RCB 14/0 in 1 over

Mohit to Kohli, almost runs himself out. He drives through covers and thinks he’s beaten the fielder. David Miller drives and takes aim at the striker’s end. Virat loses his bat mid way but survives because the ball misses the stumps. SIX! Creams it over the long off fence. Punches the next down the ground for one. Faf defends the first delivery. He punches the next through covers and completes one. SIX! Virat takes a step down the wicket and pummels it over mid wicket.

Time for the run chase

Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli are at the crease. Mohit Sharma will begin the proceedings for the Titans.

A team hat-trick for RCB

GT 147 in 19.3 overs

Vyshak removes Suthar, who departs for 1 on debut, slicing one to the fielder in the deep. Off the very next delivery, Mohit Sharma falls short of the mark as Shankar desperately scampers to complete the single and take strike. In an effort to finish on a high, Shankar misfires to make it three off three for RCB. There’s a bit of a bobble from Siraj but he manages to pouch it in the end. The entire stadium is up on its feet. The host has done a commendable job to keep Gujarat under 150 in a high-scoring venue.

Lowest scores in Bengaluru!

IPL 2024: Here is the list of lowest team totals that have been defended at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru

GT 147/7 in 19 overs

Time for RCB to reveal its Impact Player. Yash Dayal is off the park. Rajat Patidar will take his place in the middle. A cracking straight drive from Shankar for four! Suthar, the debutant, will be facing Siraj first up. Gets up an running with a single. Shankar isn’t willing to relent. He doesn’t mind how the runs come. A wild swing of the bat as the ball grows quickly on Shankar and the edge carries it safely beyond the fence.

GT 136/7 in 18 overs

A top effort from Vyshak goes abegging. Tewatia, looking to clear the third man fielder, ends up skying this courtesy of a top-edge. The RCB pacer jumps into action, gives it his all but the ball falls short. Dayal makes a mess of the stumps. Excellent work this from Dayal. He spots Rashid moving across and delivers a yorker onto the exposed leg stump. Shankar comes on as an Impact Player. A gamble GT is willing to take, given the low runs on board. Another feasible option would have been to wait for the innings break and call on a pacer. Tewatia gets into the line of the ball and swivel pulls this to the fence. WICKET! Vyshak may have just taken one of the best catches of the season. Yet another top-edge due to a slower delivery which Tewatia found difficult to read. The ball lobs to third man and Vyshak had to put in a full-stretched dive to make it happen.

GT vs RCB - Figure 6
Photo Sportstar

GT 130/5 in 17 overs

Tewatia drives one through cover but the fielder will stop the ball in its tracks. Single it is. Two fours for Rashid! The first one has been punched through covers and the second one runs away to the boundary after inviting a heavy inside edge through Rashid’s legs.

GT 121/5 in 16 overs

The timeout is over. Karn Sharma will bowl his third. A boundary to start the over. Tewatia loses his footing but effectively dismisses the ball to the ropes with a sweep. He follows it up with a slogsweep for an 81-metre six. Two back-to-back fours now - one over extra cover and the second one is a sweep. It’s almost as if he is putting up an exhibition of his prowess against spin.

GT 102/5 in 15 overs

Vyshak may not have picked up a wicket yet, but he has been highly effective while experimenting with lengths. SIX! Call that the commentator’s curse. Rashid throws the kitchen sink at a short ball and although it takes a heavy edge, the ball flies beyond the ropes. Suyash Prabhudessai with some friendly fire. Has a shy at the stumps at the non-striker’s end and the ball hits Vyshak on the bounce. He winces in pain as Kohli wears a frustrated look.

GT 93/5 in 14 overs

Green bangs one really short and Rashid tries to evade it while taking his eyes off the ball. It hits him on the shoulder blade and balloons up. RCB’s pacers have been on the money tonight. Rashid seems to be in some discomfort. Time for some magic spray... Live action resumes as the Australian continues with the short-ball ploy in an effort to not let the batters free their arms. A wonderful spell from Green comes to an end. He finishes with figures of 4-0-28-1.

GT 88/5 in 13 overs

Shankar is padded up in the dugout. So, that is definitely an option GT is looking at considering the little runs they have on the board. Vyshak is mixing it up well. Three runs off the first three balls. We have an umpire’s review for run out at the non-striker’s end! And Shahrukh is found well short of the mark. Shahrukh, who wanted a quick single, is sent back by Tewatia. Kohli, lurking on the offside, rarely misses. Rashid Khan is the new man in.

GT vs RCB - Figure 7

GT 84/4 in 12 overs

Pitched short and outside off, Miller has muscled this over deep cover for a six. And Karn has the last laugh! Miller walks. Maxwell had all the time at long-on to settle underneath the skier. Rahul Tewatia will have to make his way into the middle way earlier than usual. The second ball he faces has been dispatched for four.

GT 72/3 in 11 overs

Miller welcomes Green back with a handsome boundary through the backward point region. DROPPED! A low, flat hit to Karn at fine leg and the spinner ends up making a mess of the opportunity. This should have been gobbled. Miller hits his pad in frustration. SIX! Clubbed over mid on... Shahrukh’s maximum brings up the fifty-run stand between the duo. This is incidentally the 100th six at M. Chinnaswamy.

GT 61/3 in 10 overs

Dinesh Karthik eggs on Karn Sharma, who has walked in to bowl, with “ Chal chal ghoomega idhar...” (C’mon! It is going to turn). The leg-spinner will be the perfect matchup for the left-handed Shahrukh, who is on strike. He will get a single and only now does the team 50 come up. Yes, on a track where SRH scored 287 just a few days earlier. Killer Miller mode activated - this has been clubbed over midwicket for a six. Shahrukh ends the over with a four through cover.

GT 49/3 in 9 overs

Dayal back into the attack. Miller taps to the on side and sets off for a single. He has to put in a dive to make it in at the non-striker’s end. A direct hit from Faf would have had him. FOUR! Over the keeper’s head off an attempted pull shot. Taps the third to deep cover for one run. A leg bye to fine leg for Miller. Shahrukh opens the bat face to work the ball to covers for a single.

GT 41/3 in 8 overs

Green to bowl the next. FOUR! After two dot balls, Green over-pitches, allowing Miller to drive it past mid off. CHANCE! Miller is rushed into a pull shot, the ball falls just short of deep square leg; one run. Another bouncer by Green, Shahrukh gets rapped on the helmet. A single to third man and the physio comes on to the field for a concussion check. Miller guides the final delivery to third man for another single.

GT 34/3 in 7 overs

Vyshak Vijaykumar for his first over. FOUR! On the pads and Shahrukh runs it down the fine leg region. DK fails to collect after the batter is beaten by a slower delivery; one bye. RCB has gone up for a caught behind. It was down the leg and Miller misses it while trying to run it down. DK was the first to suggest there was noise and Faf signals to the umpire. There’s no spike on the UltraEdge and RCB loses a review. Miller places the fifth past point for another single. FOUR! Thick outside edge on an expansive drive, runs to the right of third man.

GT 23/3 in 6 overs

Cameron Green into the attack. Shahrukh taps with soft hands towards point, gets one run for it. OUT! Sudharsan is GONE! He tries to pull but the bounce gets him. A simple catch for Virat Kohli at mid on.

Sai Sudharsan c Kohli b Green 6(14)

David Miller joins the middle. Defends his first delivery. Drives the fifth to covers. FOUR! Cuts it away past point for only the second boundary of the innings.

GT 18/2 in 5 overs

Yash to Sudharsan, taps to mid on to scamper through for a single. Shahrukh tries to drive down the ground but loses the bottom hand grip, its still past the 30-yard circle which gets him two runs. ALMOST! Shahrukh tries to pull the third, gets it too high on the bat. The ball pops up towards mid off but falls just short. He clips the fourth to deep square leg; one run. Sudharsan tries to drive on the up, gets beaten. Another dot to finish the over.

GT vs RCB - Figure 9

GT 14/2 in 4 overs

Siraj to Gill. A wide down leg, Dinesh Karthik with a dive to his left to prevent this from running away to the fence. Gill flicks the first delivery to deep mid wicket for one run. A bouncer for Sudharsan, who fails to ramp it away over the keeper. Sudharsan parries the third delivery to third man; one run. Gill plays the next, a full delivery, to mid on. OUT! Gill gets a leading edge trying to heave this over mid wicket, gets caught at deep point.

Shubman Gill c Vyshak b Siraj 2(7)

FOUR! Shahrukh Khan gets the first boundary off an inside edge.

GT 7/1 in 3 overs

Sudharsan faces Yash Dayal. BEATEN! Tries to play this across the line, it is too wide outside off to execute. Two runs, Sudharsan chips it down the ground but does not get enough on it to clear the rope. Dot ball, a yorker from Yash, Sudharsan opens the bat face and third man fields it. Taps the fourth to long off for a single. Gill charges down the track but fails to pull it away. A single to deep point on the final delivery.

GT 3/1 in 2 overs

Mohammed Siraj to bowl the next. Saha on strike. The first delivery rises on him from a length, Saha tries to tuck it away down leg but misses. The second is angling in again, Saha blocks. WICKET! Saha is caught behind. It is not quite wide enough to cut, Saha gets a thick edge and gives a catch to the keeper.

Wriddiman Saha c Karthik b Siraj 1(7)

Sai Sudharsan at No. 3 for GT. He starts with a drive but cannot beat the mid off fielder. Sudharsan blocks the fourth from the off stump line. A wide down the leg, Siraj will have to rebowl that one. The last one holds off the pitch but the batter is able to get it wide of mid off to pick a single.

GT 1/0 in 1 over

Swapnil to Saha, starts on the off stump line, Saha defends. The second is a fraction wider, Saha drives straight to covers. Saha defends the third delivery. The fourth is fuller and Saha drives it to long off to get the GT scorecard off the mark. Gill taps the fifth to covers. Just one run from the first over.

Faf du Plessis: We are going to chase. The conversation has been good. From a batting perspective we have found our mojo. The guys can come in and bat freely.

Shubman Gill: The talk is to win four in four. It’s important to turn up and deliver our best. I feel our fielding has let us down. IPL is such a long tournament. It’s important to turn up on the day. We have two changes, Manav (Suthar) makes his debut and Josh Little comes in.

RCB vs GT Pitch Report

“The square boundaries are 57m and 64m. 69m down the ground. It’s extremely hard, not a lot of grass. It will getting good for batting, can trust the bounce. The boundaries are really small. It can be a high-scoring contest,” reckons Matthew Hayden.

We are less than 30 minutes away from the toss. Time to make those final tweaks to your Dream11 team...

RCB vs GT preview by Ashwin Achal

Having notched up wins in its last two fixtures, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has kept its IPL playoff hopes alive. RCB will strive to keep the momentum going with a good result against Gujarat Titans (GT) today.

RCB holds sway, having gotten past the same opponent last week at Ahmedabad. The victory was set up by a brilliant unbeaten 41-ball 100 from Will Jacks, with Virat Kohli (70 n.o.) playing the supporting role.

GT vs RCB - Figure 12
Photo Sportstar

Unlike many other sides, RCB has not been able to take full advantage of home conditions. Faf du Plessis and his men have managed only one positive result in four games held at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Jacks believes that RCB is now well poised to do well at home, given that its batters have found form. “We do not want to focus on our losing record here. Because of the playing conditions, it is hard to have home advantage here. The pitches are good and the boundaries are small. If a batter gets going, it is hard to stop. Now that our batters are in form, we can hopefully finish our home games strongly,” Jacks said.

The city welcomed a long-awaited spell of rain on Friday, even if it mildly disrupted the training schedule of the teams. The skies cleared up later, allowing players to get a hit under lights.

Much like RCB, GT is teetering on the edge of elimination. With eight points from 10 matches, the visitor needs to get on a winning streak to push for a playoff spot. GT must address its bowling woes, having conceded 200-plus scores in its last two outings.

Stay tuned! The RCB vs GT match begins at 7:30pm IST
