Heinrich Klaasen continued his stellar run in the ongoing IPL 2024 as he produced an emphatic knock of 80 runs from 34 balls against the Mumbai Indians at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Klaasen's exceptional power-hitting was there for the world to see, but there was a special guest in attendance during the match. Laya Klaasen, his daughter, cheered for her dad from the stands during the match. The little lady-luck's presence weaved magic as her father bagged the Orange Cap early with 143 runs in 2 matches.

SunRisers Hyderabad won their first match of the season in front of their home crowd as they defeated the Mumbai Indians by 31 runs in a record-shattering game. SunRisers posted the highest-ever IPL total of 277 and Klaasen top-scored with 80 off just 34 deliveries.

HOW KLAASEN GUIDED SRH TO HIGHEST-EVER IPL TOTAL?

Klaasen, who had played a valiant knock for SRH against KKR by scoring 63 runs from 29 deliveries, continued to showcase his batting prowess during their home match. He had walked into bat in the 12th over of the match when SRH had already scored 163 runs. However, he was in no mood to let the tempo down as he smashed Shams Mulani for a six on the 3rd ball that he faced. He had joined Aiden Markram and the duo registered the highest partnership for the 4th wicket for SRH in IPL by sharing a 116-run stand.

The Proteas batters showed no mercy on the MI bowlers as they were being taken to the cleaners. En route to the partnership, Klaasen scored his 2nd consecutive fifty of the season within just 23 balls. Be it the other Mumbai Indians bowlers, who looked hapless or Jasprit Bumrah, no one was spared by Klaasen.

Mumbai Indians came up with a valiant chase as Tilak Varma's quick-fire 64 and cameos from Tim David, Rohti Sharma and Ishan Kishan helped them get 246 and limit damage to their Net Run Rate.
