iOS 16.4 update released: Compatible iPhones, how to download ...

iPhone users may have to download the update manually, by heading to Settings > General > Software Update.

By Abhik Sengupta: Apple has started rolling out the iOS 16.4 update for iPhones. The new iOS update does not bring substantial features, though some tools could be useful to regular users. Firstly, the latest iOS update brings 31 new emojis to your iPhone. Another useful feature is voice isolation, which debuted with iOS 15. However, voice isolation was limited to FaceTime Audio calls, but the iOS 16.4 update extends it to cellular calls.

iPhone users may have to download the update manually, by heading to Settings > General > Software Update. The iOS 16.4 update is available to users with these iPhone models:

iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone SE (3rd generation), and iPhone SE (2nd generation).

As mentioned, iPhone users can now enjoy 31 more new emojis. These include new emoji, including a new smiley, animals like a moose and a goose, and new heart colours, like pink and light blue. The voice isolation feature is also available to use. To use the feature, start a regular call and pull down the Control Center by dragging it down diagonally from the top-right corner of the screen. Tap the Mic Mode button at the top and select the Voice Isolation option.

Additionally, iPhone users can easily merge duplicate photos to save storage. If you share photos with family or friends via iCloud, iOS 16.4 will show you all the duplicates across albums.

The Music app has also been updated, and there are some minor changes to the interface. For instance, users will see a small banner near the bottom of their screen instead of a full-screen pop-up when a new song is added to the queue. If you use iPhone 14 Pro models, there are focus mode filters. iOS 16.4 also adds a Dim Flashing Lights feature in the Dim Flashing Lights. It is available under Motion in Settings.

Apart from iOS 16.4, Apple has started rolling out iPadOS 16.4 updates for iPad. iPad users can enjoy similar features as iPhone users. Apple is rolling out tvOS 16.4 for Apple TVs and macOS Ventura 13.3 for Mac computers.
