Welcome to Sportstar’s LIVE coverage of the LSG vs KKR IPL 2024 match being played at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow

Key Updates Lineups TOSS - LSG

KKR 178/4 in 16 overs

Back after the strategic timeout! Time for LSG to make a comeback of sorts to keep KKR from reaching 200, which would be the highest score at this venue. Yudhvir Singh Charak, who has come on as the concussion sub for Mohsin, will be pushed into the thick of the action straightaway. AND GONE! Raghuvanshi nicks one to the ‘keeper. Shreyas Iyer, the skipper, will be on strike. Rinku Singh flicks one over square leg for FOUR.

KKR 171/3 in 15 overs

There is a brief stoppage in play as physios tend to Raghuvanshi. For a while, it seemed he would be walking off but looks okay to carry on for now. FOUR! Bowled full and wide by Naveen-ul-Haq and Russell has swung through the line with the mid-off up in the circle. WICKET! Krishnappa Gowtham, substitute fielder at extra cover, covers a lot of ground and takes a stunning catch to dismiss Russell. Jonty Rhodes appreciates the effort from the dugout. Rinku Singh walks in.

KKR 162/2 in 14 overs

Raghuvanshi providing some able support to Russell. Shimmies down, picks one up on the full and punches it straight down the ground. One bounce and into the fence for four. Misreads a wrong’un off Bishnoi next and the ball takes an inside edge to crash onto his pads. Raghuvanshi may have hurt himself while trying to scamper and dive to get to his mark.

KKR 155/2 in 13 overs

Time for some muscle from Russell. He will be facing spin from Krunal. The bowler fires one down leg and it is five wides. SIX! The man has announced himself with a 90-metre maximum. Mohsin has stepped out of the ground after a poor landing saw him hit his head the previous over.

KKR 140/2 in 12 overs

Down the ground, goes Narine ... DDP positions himself at the edge of the rope but he has stepped over. It is a six! An outside edge this time, and Mohsin, at third man, seems to have hit his head while diving full-stretch. Narine’s safe. Mohsin may require some tending to, though. WICKET! Third time’s the charm. Narine hesitates a bit and then goes over the bowler’s head again. This time, DDP makes no mistake. Narine departs but not before thoroughly entertaining the Ekana crowd.

KKR 129/1 in 11 overs

Marcus Stoinis is back into the attack. Up, up and away... Narine tees off with a cracking six over long-on. He throws his bat at the next widish delivery as well but misses all of it. Doesn’t miss again, six more! A slower, back of the length delivery has been sent 89m deep into the stands. A third six to make it 19 of the over. Stoinis can only shake his head now. Nobody has hit more sixes than Narine this season.

KKR 110/1 in 10 overs

Bishnoi to Narine, FOUR! Late cuts it past the slip fielder. FIFTY IN 27 BALLS! Narine misses a switch hit. Narine misses his slog sweep but Rahul fails to gather it and allows a bye. FOUR! Full and wide and Angkrish gets his bottom hand into play, drives it through covers. A single with a soft push to mid wicket.

KKR 100/1 in 9 overs

Angkrish survives a run out scare! He taps to long on and sets off for a single. Devdutt Padikkal dives from mid wicket to make a save and sends it to the striker’s end. The throw is not quite on target which allows Angkrish to get back. SIX! Pulls a half-tracker from Yash over mid wicket. SIX for Narine! Pulls it away over square leg. That’s too short from the bowler. A single on the final delivery brings up the 100 for KKR.

KKR 86/1 in 8 overs

Ravi Bishnoi into the attack now. A wrong one to start with, Narine is beaten. A single off the next through covers. Angkrish gets a single to long on. A clip to deep mid wicket for Narine. A wide from Bishnoi and a single on the final delivery makes it five from the over.

KKR 81/1 in 7 overs

Krunal Pandya to Narine, goes on his back foot to work the delivery through square leg; one run. Angkrish clips through mid wicket off his front foot; another run. SIX! A length ball and Narine clears his front leg out and tonks it over mid wicket. Narine goes aerial again but does not quite connect, one run down the ground. Angkrish with a single to deep mid wicket. A single off the final delivery makes it 11 from the over.

KKR 70/1 in 6 overs

Yash Thakur to Angkrish. He swipes the second delivery to mid on for a single. Narine drives but the man at cover fields it. Another drive, this time for mid off to field. Narine pulls the next to deep mid wicket for one run.

KKR 68/1 in 5 overs

Naveen to Salt, FOUR! The batter sees it full and wide, creams it between point and backward point. OUT! The pace off gets Naveen and LSG the reward. Salt swings again only to get a thick outside edge.

Phil Salt c Rahul b Naveen 32 (14)

Angkrish Raghuvanshi in at No. 3. FOUR! Charges down the track and hits it through covers. The ball hangs in the air for a while but goes clear through the gap. Angkrish cuts the fifth through the vacant point region for one run. Two runs for Narine after his slog goes through mid wicket off an inside edge.

KKR 57/0 in 4 overs

Mohsin to Salt, clips it to deep square leg for a single. FOUR for Narine. Room on offer and Narine takes the aerial route over covers. FOUR! Drills it through the gap between covers and mid off. FOUR again! Narine slaps this down the ground. A fifty partnership between Salt and Narine. The leftie misses the slog on the fifth delivery. An attempt to bowl a bouncer, Narine is beaten but the leg umpire deems it too high; WIDE. SIX! Narine does not quite connect to the pull, gets it off his toe end but the sheer speed of the swing drops the ball beyond the fence. A 20 run over for KKR.

KKR 37/0 in 3 overs

Naveen-ul-Haq to Salt. FOUR! On the pads and Salt whips it away behind square. FOUR! Drives and gets it past covers. Naveen gets away with another over-pitched delivery, Salt drives but deep cover fields it; two runs. Salt reads the slower delivery, pokes it in front of mid on to get one run. FOUR! Narine slices it over the infield on the on side. FOUR more! Lofts it over the fine leg fielder. 19 from the over.

KKR 18/0 in 2 overs

Mohsin Khan to Narine, a yorker to begin, Narine opens the bat face and guides it to backward point. Salt defends the next from a leg-stump line. SIX! Another delivery on the leg stump line, Salt is ready for it and pulls it over fine leg. Salt taps the next to mid wicket to run one. A bouncer for Narine, dot ball. A slower one on the final, eight runs from the over.

KKR 10/0 in 1 over

Phil Salt taking strike. Marcus Stoinis will bowl the first over. FOUR! Salt gets a top edge on the first delivery. Extra bounce surprises him but the ball flies over the keeper. Another FOUR! Angling into Salt’s pads, he uses the pace and nudges it down to fine leg. A quick single with a punch to mid on on the fourth delivery. Narine nearly slices the final delivery to mid off. It lands just short of mid off and the duo completes a single.

Lucknow Super Giants wins the toss and opts to bowl.

KL Rahul: We will bowl first. We just like chasing. The good thing is we have been able to adapt well to conditions, and there have been a few brilliant performances. Quinton de Kock was injured in the last match. He’s fine now but we’re going with the previous combination. Yash Thakur comes in for Mayank Yadav.

Shreyas Iyer: We would have bowled as well. Defending 170 in Mumbai with five bowlers gave us a lot of confidence. There’s a lot of self-belief in the team. We are going with the same team. Hopefully we continue with the same form.
