RR vs GT IPL 2024 Live Score: The only unbeaten team this season, Rajasthan Royals, will be aiming to match their previous record of five wins in a row when they face Gujarat Titans at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium tonight.
In 2015, the Royals had won their first five matches to launch their campaign in a grand manner. Nine years later, the Sanju Samson-led side is just a win short of matching their previous best, having remained undefeated in the four matches so far.
With eight points, the Royals have maintained their top position in the points table. The impressive NRR of 1.120 just goes to imply that the Jaipur-based franchise has dominated the competition with an excellent all-round performance.
Barring the form of Yashasvi Jaiswal, everything is going perfectly for the Royals. After having a dream run with the bat since the last IPL season, the law of averages has finally caught up with Jaiswal.
The dashing opener must be eager to end the four failures with a big knock against GT. His opening partner Jos Buttler’s sensational unbeaten century against RCB in the last match at the same venue might just inspire Jaiswal to regain his run-scoring act.
Royals assistant coach Trevor Penney was confident about Jaiswal firing soon.
“We’re absolutely confident about Yashasvi finding his touch again quickly. There is nothing wrong with his technique or temperament. He is working hard on his skills in the nets. He is hungry for runs after the not-so-good start this season,” said Penney.
It has been a dream run for Samson so far. The long-standing RR skipper led from the front. The extraordinary strike rate of Samson with the bat has immensely helped the team and made matters worse for their opponents.
Riyan Parag’s wonderful comeback has not only taken the pressure off the other batters but also changed the overall dynamics of the Royals batting lineup, which is looking perhaps the best in the format.
The Shubman Gill-led GT started off well but seem to have lost their way a bit. Gill, captaining the side for the first time after the exit of Hardik Pandya, will need to inspire his teammates to stop the winning run of the Royals. Last year’s runners-up will have to regroup quickly to regain momentum.
GT left-arm paceman Spencer Johnson admitted that the results of the last two matches have hurt them badly, but they are optimistic about the clash against Royals.
“We beat them in the final a couple of years ago. They have been playing some great cricket at home but ours is a quality side, having reached the finals successively in the previous two editions. We hope to stop the winning run of the Royals,” said the Australian fast bowler.

Veterans Mohit Sharma and Umesh Yadav have been the stand-out performers with the ball for Titans but they fell flat in front of little-known Punjab Kings cricketers Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma in a thrilling tie. The Afghan trio of Azmatullah Omarzai, Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad also need to raise their game.

Shubman Gill, personally, have had a decent outing with the bat so far, scoring 183 runs from five games with a strike rate close to 147. His opening partner B Sai Sudharsan too has been among runs but is yet to register a fifty in the tournament. He replaced Wriddhiman Saha at the top in the previous and is expected to bat alongside Gill today as well.

Gujarat Titans, on the other hand, witnessed a mixed bag campaign so far with two wins and and three loses out of five games. The Shubman Gill-led side would look to avoid a hat-trick of losses but it would be easier said than done against an opponent on rampage. They would be looking to bounce from back after a 'poor' effort with the bat against Lucknow Super Giants.

Royals also boast of potent bowling attack in the form of pacers Trent Boult and Nandre Burger, and leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who has been their stand-out performer with eight wickets, the second highest so far. But Ravichandran Ashwin's patchy form is a surprise. He has taken just one wicket from four matches while giving away eight runs per over.

Sanju Samson has been leading Royals from the front, scoring 178 runs from four games including two fifties. But it is Riyan Parag's performance with the bat that has been a revelation for RR. The all-rounder from Guwahati is the third highest run-getter in the tournament so far with 185 runs, including two unbeaten half-centuries. The likes of Shimron Hetmyer and Dhruv Jurel also needs to contribute more in the middle-order.

RR could not have asked for a better start to the season, registering four consecutive wins from as many games. But Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has been terrific for the national team of late, has tallied just 39 runs in four games. If he is back amongst the runs, it will be icing on the cake for RR as his opening partner Jos Buttler returned to form with an unbeaten century against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
