Commentary

18:33 Local Time, 05:33 GMT, 11:03 IST: A perfect day for New Zealand as they are in a commanding position and Sri Lanka are in dire straits with plenty of time remaining in the Test. The 363-run partnership between Nicholls and Williamson was the highlight of the day as Sri Lanka were not able to pick any wickets in the first two sessions. Both - Williamson and Nicholls notched up double centuries as the hosts declared with a massive total of 580/4. Both the batters played some excellent cricket as the Sri Lankan bowlers were made to toil in the field. In reply, Southee bowled a tight opening spell with the new ball, but it was Matt Henry who got Oshada Fernando's wicket as he was caught behind. Mendis was dismissed for a duck as Conway took a superb catch at point diving to his left. Jayasuriya walked in as the nightwatchman and made sure there were no further hiccups as Sri Lanka finished the day on 26/2 trailing by 554 runs. We'll be back tomorrow for the live coverage of Day 3, do join us..
