A royal wedding is always a spectacle, and today's Jordanian celebration was absolutely no exception. While the pre-nuptial festivities started in late May, today marked the big event: the wedding between Jordan's Crown Prince Hussein and his fiancee, Saudi Arabian architect Rajwa Al Saif. And while, of course, there was plenty to swoon over in the glamorous ceremony and the impressive roster of international well-wishers, there was always going to be one iconic item for fans to ooh and ahh over: the wedding dress.

For the official ceremony at the Zahran Palace, which was designed to pay tribute to the culture of Jordan, Prince Hussein's military career, and Rajwa's heritage, Rajwa selected a long-sleeved flowing white gown with a delicately draped bodice, asymmetrical neckline, and a long, embellished train by Lebanese fashion designer Elie Saab. She accented the look with a trailing veil, U-shaped chandelier earrings, d'Orsay style flats, and a diamond tiara.

Speculation had long suggested that the newly-minted princess would choose a designer from her native Saudi Arabia or from Jordan as a symbolic gesture, though given that Jordan's Princess Iman—Rajwa's new sister-in-law—chose a long-sleeve lace Dior wedding gown for her March wedding to Jameel Alexander Thermiotis, it was far from guaranteed.

Known as the katb ktab, the traditional ceremony was a relatively small affair by royal standards, attended by around 140 guests including the prince's parents King Abdullah II and Queen Rania and other members of Jordan's royal family, as well as foreign dignitaries. The service was followed by a procession to Al Husseiniya Palace, where the couple welcomed a cavalcade of guests at their reception, followed by a royal banquet.
