Real Madrid has contacted the father of FC Barcelona prodigy Lamine Yamal to try and lure the teenager away from the Catalans to the Bernabeu in what would be the heist of the century if pulled off, El Nacional reports.

Lamine has been on Barca's books since he was seven years of age and broke the club's record for the youngest appearance maker in the 21st century when debuting as a 15-year-old against Real Betis in spring 2023.

Other milestones have followed, such as being made Spain's youngest debutant and goalscorer in addition to the youngest La Liga star to hit the back of the net.

Now 16, Lamine is an integral part of Xavi Hernandez's first team with the coach that is set to resign on June 30 calling him a "beastly talent" this past weekend.

"He's a beastly talent. [At just] 16 years old. Very few appear in these conditions. How he works, how he helps the full-back," Xavi reflected following a 3-1 win at Alaves, of the youngster who is already a firm starter and "has no ceiling".

"We've made a specific plan with him. He's a difference maker. We are looking at something special. I highlight how he competes, he doesn't get tired.

"He does many kilometers at high intensity. He comes back to defend. I am very happy. He's got defensive humility," Xavi further beamed.

According to El Nacional, however, Barca's bitter enemies in El Clasico might have a specific plan for Lamine too.

This is because Los Blancos are reportedly in talks with Lamine's father, who is a known fan of the club from the Spanish capital.

Back in August, AS reported on "long term" fears Barca had with "Madrid in the middle", at a time when the youngster was still yet to sign a new contract.

He eventually did this, committing to his boyhood outfit until 2026. Yet this deal only takes Lamine a fortnight out from his 18th birthday on July 13 that year.

If Madrid president Florentino Perez manages to get the boy's father to persuade his son to switch allegiances, it would be the biggest heist job the construction magnate has pulled off since Luis Figo did likewise in 2000, as part of a pre-election promise Perez made to Madrid members before being voted in.

El Nacional writes that Lamine having recently switched from wearing the boots of Barca sponsor Nike to those of Madrid kit supplier Adidas is a factor that could weigh into potential, future negotiations with the tricky winger.

And in light of all this, regardless of whether Madrid is interested or not, the Blaugrana has to get its financial house in order to extend Lamine for a five-year minimum until the 2030s.
