PBKS' Shashank Singh has decoded the main reason behind the success of the relative unknown talent in IPL 2024, and said that it is all about self-belief for the domestic stars. This season of the tournament has seen quite a few unknown names become stars for their sides. Shashank has been one of them, followed by the likes of Ashutosh Sharma, Angkrish Raghuvanshi from KKR and SRH youngster Nitish Kumar Reddy.

Nitish was the Player Of The Match for SRH against PBKS on April 9, where Shashank and Ashutosh were almost able to pull off another heist while chasing. The PBKS batter said during the post-match press conference that the young stars are bringing confidence from their domestic performances into the IPL and their success has been mainly due to that.

Shashank feels that cricket is a game of self-belief and that's what has stood out for the unknown talent this time around.

"The only thing is the self-belief. Like the way we played in domestic cricket. Like you see Nitish here. He scored usually and took wickets in white-ball and red-ball both."

"Ashutosh you see that he did very well in the Mushtaq Ali and Vijay Hazare trophy. But the others who are coming in, like Angkrish from KKR."

"So the players who are coming in, yes may be unknown here, but they are known players in the domestic circuit. We play domestically and they are doing very well. So it is the reward for that. Whatever you do domestically, you continue doing the same here."

"That performance brings you here. Cricket is a game of self-belief. I think at this level, whatever you perform, you bring confidence and self-belief here and then you do well here. Obviously luck is a part, but then that self-relief confidence is always there," said Shashank.

Shashank's efforts go in vain during PBKS vs SRH

Shashank produced another top batting performance during the chase on Tuesday and almost pulled off another win for his side. Needing 29 off the last over in their chase of 183 to win, Shashank scored 46 off 25 balls but ultimately it went in vain, as SRH won the match by 2 runs.
