Masters 2024 live updates: Tiger Woods one over after first round ...

Morikawa makes ground as the first rounds finish ????

The final trio wrap up the 18th, with Tommy Fleetwood dropping a shot to finish level par.

Collin Morikawa balanced that with a superb 35ft putt to claim a birdie leave him with a one-under 71.

And with that, the first round is complete.

Harman's back nine hits new heights

Just on Brian Harman, his was the highest second-nine score since Ben Crenshaw in the opening round in 2015, when he shot 48.

It is also the highest second-nine score by a non-former champion or player under 50-years-old since Danny Lee shot 47 in round twp of the Masters in 2009.

Split round tears Harman's hopes apart

Delays and split-up rounds can be a brutal draw in this sport.

Brian Harman was 2-under through 10 holes when play was suspended last night. He was a contender. But when play restarted today, Harman shot 11-over on the final eight holes.

Yes, you read that right.

The reigning Open Champion shot the back nine in 47 thanks to back-to-back bogeys on 11 and 12 followed by a double bogey on 13. He finished with double bogeys on each of the last three holes to end 9-over.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a restart collapse of this level.

Last group standing

We now have just one group and three golfers left to finish up the opening round of the 2024 Masters.

Tommy Fleetwood, Dustin Johnson and Collin Morikawa are all currently approaching the 18th green.

Once they're done, full focus can be trained on the second rounds.

Spieth's expression says it all ????

T81: Jordan SPIETH (+7) 79

The 2015 champion was hoping to make something special happen over these four days but it's been a disastrous finish to Jordan Spieth's opening round.

There were six shots dropped from holes 14-17 including a quadruple on the 15th. There is at least some appreciation for a wonderful recovery to set-up his put for par on the 18th.

But the disappointment is written all over Spieth's face and he finishes round one near the back of the field with a seven-over 79.

T62: Jason DAY (+3) 75

Sadly for Jason Day, there was still time for another bogey at the 18th.

He drops three shots in the final three holes to finish his opening round struggling to make the cut. He'll also play his second round alongside Tiger Woods and Max Homa.

T35: Tiger WOODS (+1) 73

No fairytale end of Tiger Woods' opening round, who goes from almost holing out of the bunker for a birdie - to two-putting for a bogey five.

It leaves Woods one-over after his opening round and a quick turnaround for the start of his second 18 at 10.18am.

Woods is bidding to make a record 24th consecutive cut at The Masters.

Late slip to Homa's best ????

T3: Max HOMA (-5) 67

After consecutive birdies, it s a disappointing bogey on 18 for Max Homa, who finishes his opening round tied-third.

The good news is that was the best round of Homa's major career to date (51 rounds). Well done him.

Shipley continues to make progress ????????

T7: Neal SHIPLEY (A) (-3) thru 3

Our leading amateur isn't ready to ease up just yet. Shipley is on his second round and has now collected birdies on the par-5 2nd and par-4 3rd to take him -2 for the day and -3 for the Masters.

Nicely done.

Spieth's unwanted record

Jordan Spieth is the only player in the last 20 years with multiple scores of 9 or worse at the 15th hole at The Masters.

Quadruple-bogey horror for former champ ❌

T82: Jordan SPIETH (+6) thru 15

What a horror show for Jordan Spieth at the par-5 15th.

He manages to go though the back of the green with his third, but chips back through it to go into the water.

The rest of the hole is a collection of tentative shots that leaves the former champion with a quadruple-bogey nine (I can sympathize with that) and already a difficult task making the cut.

Hatton drops another to finish level ????

T28: Tyrrell HATTON (E) 72

It was all looking good overnight for Hatton but a double bogey at the 15th on his restart was followed by a bogey five on the 18th to finish his first round level.

A case of what might have been perhaps but there's no time to dwell on it. Hatton is due back out for his second round in 40 minutes.

Homa joins Scheffler on -6 ????????

T2: Max HOMA (-6) thru 17

Homa is making moves. He birdied the par-3 16th with a tickly downhill 9ft putt.

Then on the par-4 17th, Homa's approach is not only a stunner - but within a couple of inches of claiming an eagle. He putts to make it successive birdies and moves tied-second with Scheffler on -6.

Sloppy putt costs Spieth ????

T50: Jordan SPIETH (+2) thru 14

It's been hard-going for Jordan Spieth, who misses a 5ft putt to drop his second shot of the opening round.

All rather unnecessary there, for the 2015 champion.

Day in trouble on the 16th ????????

T50: Jason DAY (+2) thru 16

The top may be a winner for Jason Day, but the 16th wasn't.

The Australian rolls into the water off the tee and once the green had its say - including a near 90-degree downhill putt that rolled well beyond the hole - Day was signing off on a double bogey.

Scott finds the water on 15 ????????

T65: Adam SCOTT (+3) thru 15

It's been a difficult resumption for 2013 Masters champion Adam Scott, who is the second player to hit the water on the par-5 15th this morning.

And just like Tyrrell Hatton, Scott ends with a double bogey. The issue for Scott from here may prove to be making the cut.

Hojgaard matches Masters debut record ????

3: Nicolai HOJGAARD (-5) 67

A difficult birdy chance slips by from 18ft on the 18th and with that, Nicolai Hojgaard is in the clubhouse with an excellent 5-under 67.

In fact, as pointed out by my colleague Justin Ray, Hojgaard's round is equal to the lowest debut round ever hit by a European player at The Masters.

A fabulous start from the 23-year-old Dane, who is back out for his second round in roughly 45 minutes.

Day catching the eye - of sorts

T29: Jason DAY (E) thru 15

It's been a steady as he goes restart for Jason Day this morning, with a couple of pars - which leaves us some room to reveal his fashion choice for the rest of this round.

Lovely stuff.

Hojgaard just short of joining Scheffler

3: Nicolai HOJGAARD (-5) thru 17

That counts as a missed opportunity for the Dane, who has a 16ft putt on the par-4 17th for a birdie to move level with Scheffler (-6).

The ball just doesn't come round enough to the right and finishes a few inches from the hole, missing out on his eighth birdie. Hojgaard claims his par and moves onto the final hole of his productive opening round.
