Singapore Open LIVE: After the Malaysia Masters and Thailand Open, the BWF Tour moves to Singapore. Singapore Open 2023 will begin from 6th June 2023. The tournament will feature big names like Defending champion Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, World No.1 Akane Yamaguchi, An Se-young, Tai Tzu Ying. Among the Indians, Men’s Doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will be the top seeds. PV Sindhu, Saina Nehwal and Kidambi Srikanth will also be in action in the tournament. Men’s Singles
Paris Olympics 2024: Kidambi Srikanth hires Indonesian coach with Olympics in mindKidambi Srikanth and Lakshya Sen are placed in the first quarter of the draws. Srikanth enters the tournament after bowing out from the first round at Thailand Open 2023. World No.20 Srikanth will face Kantaphon Wangchaoren in the first round. He is likely to face either a qualifier or Kenta Nishimoto if he advances to the second round.
Lakshya Sen meanwhile made it to the semifinals this week at the Thailand Open. He however faces a big challenge in the first round at the Singapore Open. The 23rd ranked Indian will face fifth seed Chou Tien Chen in the first round. Anders Antonsen and Toma Junior Popov are also present in the quarter.
After winning the Malaysian Masters title, HS Prannoy will return to action at the Singapore Open. The World No.8 will face third seeded Kodai Naraoka in the first round. Orleans Masters champion Priyanshu Rajawat is also in the same quarter. Rajawat will face Kanta Tsuneyama in the first round. Both Prannoy and Rajawat are likely to meet in the second round.
Women’s Singles
Defending champion PV Sindhu leads India’s challenge in Women’s Singles. She is placed in a tough quarter as she is set to meet World No.1 and top seed Akane Yamaguhi in the first round of the tournament. Sindhu will be keen to avoid second successive first round loss in the tour.
Saina Nehwal also finds herself in the first quarter of the draw. The unseeded Saina will begin her campaign by facing seventh seed Ratchanok Intanon.
Men’s Doubles
Dhruv Kapila and MR Arjun are set to return to the tour after the Orleans Masters. The unseeded Indian pair will face French duo Lucas Corvee and Ronan Labar in the first set. The Indian duo are likely to face Indonesia’s top seeded pair Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Ardianto in the second round.
India’s fifth seeded Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty are in the second quarter of the draws. They begin their campaign by facing Japan’s Akira Hoga and Taichi Saito in the first round. The only other seeded pair in the quarter is Japan’s fourth seeded Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kaobayashi.
Women’s Doubles
Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand will begin their campaign by facing Hong Kong’s Yeung Nga Ting and Yeung Pui Lam. The Indian duo are unseeded in the tournament. They are likely to face eight seeded South Korean duo Baek Ha-na and Lee So-hee in the second round. Jolly and Gopichand are the only Indian duo in the Women’s Doubles.
