Does TWICE’s Jihyo fit the Olympian’s “ideal type”?

On March 24, an exclusive from SWAY reported that TWICE‘s Jihyo and Olympian skeleton athlete Yun Sung Bin are dating. Said to have been together for about a year now, Jihyo and Yun Sung Bin “met through mutual acquaintances.”

Amid all the feelings that idol dating news is bound to bring, some Koreans are convinced Jihyo’s “taste in men” is set in stone—comparing the visual similarities between her ex-boyfriend, Kang Daniel, and her allegedly new boyfriend, Yun Sung Bin.

But what about Yun Sung Bin? Does Jihyo fit his “ideal type,” as previously revealed?

The most recent mention of his ideal type is in February of 2024. On SBS‘s entertainment show, Strong Heart VS, Yun Sung Bin commented that he’s a huge fan of K-Dramas.

When asked to pick his ideal type between Daily Dose of Sunshine‘s Park Bo Young vs. My Dearest‘s Ahn Eun Jin, the female leads of the hottest K-Dramas at the time, Yun Sung Bin did mention that Park Bo Young is “too cute” for his preference.

Jun Hyun Moo: So your ideal type changes every day? Depending on which K-Drama you’re watching?

Yun Sung Bin: Well, no. Not necessarily. It’s not because of the K-Dramas I watch. I don’t actually have a set “ideal type,” per se. But I do feel attracted to women with a charming (attractive) face.

In May 2023, on JTBC‘s entertainment show called Carefree Travelers (or Moongtteun Returns), Yun Sung Bin detailed a bit more about his ideal type. While answering a question about when he feels the most prompted to “protect” women, Yun Sung Bin admitted that he finds “clumsiness” as a trait of attraction:

When a woman isn’t too cautious. Like, when she runs into things when she’s walking down the street? I find that cute. So I found it adorable when Park Se Ri [tripped and fell earlier].

The one time that Yun Sung Bin did not hesitate to name-drop a female celeb was in March 2023, on Knowing Bros.

The show hosts wanted to know if Yun Sung Bin was, at the time, in a romantic relationship. Yun Sung Bin denied, but did mention The Glory‘s Lim Ji Yeon as his ideal type!

Show Hosts: Do you have a girlfriend right now?

Yun Sung Bin: No.

Show Hosts: Are you sure? Your girlfriend might be watching this at home, getting mad.

Yun Sung Bin: I don’t have a girlfriend, though.

Show Hosts: Then who is your ideal type?

Yun Sung Bin: It changes quite often. But right now, because I’m having a lot of fun watching The Glory, I’ll say it’s Yeon Jin.

Last but not least, Yun Sung Bin did appear on comedian Park Myung Soo‘s YouTube channel and went on a “blind date” with LOVELYZ‘s Mijoo.
