LATE FULLKRUG GOAL SEALS CONSECUTIVE WINS FOR GERMANY

A late Niclas Fullkrug goal gave Germany a dramatic 2-1 win over the Netherlands, as the historic rivals locked horns once again to close out the final international break before Euro 2024 this summer.

Julian Naglesmann named an unchanged starting 11 following his sides victory over France whereas the Netherlands experimented heavily with their lineup. Despite the Dutch taking the lead after just four minutes through Joey Veerman the German’s cohesion showed and the hosts dominated much of the first half.

A Max Mittelstaedt wonder strike from the edge of the box brought the hosts level just moments after going behind. However, Gundogan and Havertz weren’t as clinical with their other opportunities ensuring the sides went into the break level.

The second half was a much different affair as the Dutch came out with a newfound rhythm and intensity with both Depay and Malen coming close to giving the away side the lead. Yet, they were made to rue their missed chances as a late Germany onslaught resulted in a scruffy Fullkrug header which crept over the line by just centre metres.

The win concludes a very successful international break for the Germans who can boast wins over France and now the Netherlands heading into Euro 2024. For the Dutch this is their first defeat since October and gives Ronald Koeman much to think about before the finals this summer.

DO THE DUTCH HAVE ANYTHING

There's only moments left in this game and time is running out for the away side. There's been little immediate response since conceding as Germany are still seeking a third

GOAL! GERMANY 2-1 NETHERLANDS (FULLKRUG)

After much confusion the goal is given and Germany have the lead! They had been piling on the pressure and Fullkrug met the ball with his shoulder from a corner. It bounces towards the bottom corner, Verbruggen think's he has kept it out but referee checks his watch and the ball is over the line!

VERBRUGGEN DENIES GERMANY AGAIN

Another top save from the young Dutch keeper who denies Muller with a firm hand down to his bottom left corner

GERMANY COMING ON STRONGLY

Germany are really pushing now and the Netherlands seem to be running out of steam. Nearly every chance seems to be falling to Musiala who just can't quite find the finish

An electric attack from Germany who spring forward quickly. Musiala is released down the right flank and fires a shot into the near post. Verbruggen meeets it though and it's out for a corner.

We're into the final 20 minutes here and it's still anyone's game. The German's have grown into this half but are still struggling to create a clear cut chance. Who can step up and be the hero...

The hosts are heating up now and Fuhrich shows why he was brought on. He skips past a few defenders before sliding an inviting ball across the face of goal, but Havertz can't quite reach the pass
