European giants go toe-to-toe in Houston on Wednesday night, as Real Madrid and Manchester United will meet in a friendly at NRG Stadium as part of the Soccer Champions Tour.

Los Blancos on Sunday defeated AC Milan at the Rose Bowl to begin their United States tour, while Manchester United's reserves were beaten by fourth-tier Wrexham at San Diego's Snapdragon Stadium on Tuesday. Both sides are expected to be close to full strength on Wednesday as the start of the domestic season looms.

US viewers can catch the game on ESPN+, as well as the ESPN app.

Real Madrid vs. Manchester United, live updates from the friendly at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas:

Two of the most storied clubs in European soccer will meet on American soil Wednesday night for the first time in nearly a decade -- Real Madrid will take on Manchester United as part of the Soccer Champions Tour.

The meeting in Houston is the first between the two teams in the United States since 2014, when they met at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor. That friendly drew over 109,000 fans to the Big House, which remains the largest crowd ever to take in a soccer game in the United States.

Real Madrid are now Vini Jr.'s team

The departure of captain and reigning Ballon d'Or winner Karim Benzema this summer means Real Madrid have a new leading light in attack -- Vinicius Junior. The Brazilian, now donning the #7 shirt, scored the late winner in Madrid's 3-2 friendly victory over Milan last weekend as he gets set for the new season -- one which will see him take on more responsibility for last season's LaLiga runners-up.

Madrid splashed the cash this summer on Borussia Dortmund and England midfielder Jude Bellingham, as club president Florentino Perez begins planning for a future without stalwarts Toni Kroos and Luka Modric. The 2023/24 season will also be the last for head coach Carlo Ancelotti, who will be taking over the Brazil national team from next summer.

Ten Hag putting his stamp on Man United

Entering his second season at Old Trafford, Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is starting to build a team in his image.

Ten Hag stripped defender Harry Maguire of the captaincy and handed it to Bruno Fernandes, while the Dutchman also greenlit the signing of sweeper keeper Andre Onana to replace longtime #1 David de Gea -- who remains a free agent after leaving Old Trafford.

United will play in the UEFA Champions League this season after a 75-point haul in 2022/23 -- the most the Red Devils have registered in a season since 2017/18. The club will also hope to secure consecutive seasons with silverware for the first time since 2015/16 and 2016/17.
